The President of the Government defends Spain's good international image in Congress with three facts: the interest of investment funds, rating improvements, and leadership in external perception.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, assured this Wednesday in the control session of the Executive in the Congress of Deputies that Spain is today the "main investment destination in Europe," according to the La Moncloa portal. He made this statement in response to the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, before whom he listed three indicators that, in his opinion, support this position.

The first is the decision of the "main international investment fund" to place Spain as the top investment destination on the continent. The second is the rating increases by debt rating agencies, which the president attributes to economic growth and fiscal consolidation. The third comes from the Real Instituto Elcano: Spain is the country with the best image among European nations and its citizens, Sánchez stated, summarising: "That is the reality of Spain, that is how we are seen."

"The main international investment fund has positioned Spain as the main investment destination in Europe"

In terms of employment, the head of the Executive has estimated that 400,000 vocational training positions have been created in the last eight years. He linked the labour reform to the reduction of temporary contracts and the gain in stability, mentioned the repeal of objective dismissal due to medical leave, and highlighted the 66% increase in the minimum interprofessional wage. Regarding housing, he pointed out that commitments from autonomous communities and municipalities are also needed to make progress.

When asked by the Junts per Catalunya deputy Míriam Nogueras, Sánchez reviewed state investment in Catalonia: the execution in Rodalies is approaching 3 billion euros and the last Council of Ministers approved the DORA III Plan, with 2 billion to modernise airport infrastructures in that community. In the last year, 116,000 jobs have been created there, he added.

In front of the deputy of Euskal Herria Bildu Mertxe Aizpurua, the president defended collective bargaining as a way for "employers to be sensitive to the demands of unions" and to improve the conditions of a middle and working class that does not earn the minimum wage but also needs salary increases.

Regarding Ceuta, Sánchez stated that the city "will emerge strengthened from this crisis" and recalled a plan of 309 million euros, of which 80 million will be injected into its economy by the end of the year, an amount equivalent to 4% of its GDP.
