The Spanish venture capital firm Nazca Capital has announced the appointment of Carme Artigas as its new operating partner. The information, reported by expansion.com, highlights that Artigas will also chair the firm's new technology committee and join its industrial advisory board.

Artigas will work alongside the investment team in identifying, analysing, and monitoring projects in deep tech companies that present disruptive models and are in early development stages. The technology committee will be responsible for evaluating the technological robustness of opportunities and assisting companies in their transformation and development.

Artigas' career in the technology sector is remarkable; she was the CEO of Ericsson Innova, Ericsson's first venture capital fund in Europe, and co-founder of Synergic Partners, a pioneering big data company acquired by Telefónica. Furthermore, she served as Secretary of State for Digitalisation and AI from January 2020 to December 2023, being responsible for drafting the Startups Law and creating the Next Tech Fund.

Artigas holds a degree in chemical engineering and has executive training in venture capital from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She is also a senior fellow at the Belfer Center at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she has become the first Spanish woman to hold this position.
