The jury of the Sustainable Company Awards 2026, promoted by LABORAL Kutxa and the Navarra Chamber of Commerce, has distinguished PIHER Sensing Systems as Sustainable Company and Camping Izarpe as Sustainable Project. The awards ceremony will take place on October 7 at the Chamber's headquarters.
The sixth edition of the Sustainable Company Awards already has winners. The jury, composed of Pello Bayona, director of Companies at LABORAL Kutxa in Navarra; José Andrés Palacios, general director of the Navarra Chamber of Commerce, and Inma Pereda, ESG consultant at Zabala Innovation Consulting, has awarded the Sustainable Company Award to PIHER Sensing Systems and the Sustainable Project Award to Camping Izarpe, as reported by camaranavarra.com.
PIHER Sensing Systems is an industrial company with over 75 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of sensors and electronic components. The jury valued the company's integration of environmental, social, and governance criteria into its activities, with a transformation aimed at efficiency and competitiveness.
In the environmental field, the company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 97% compared to 2021 and its water consumption by 60%. The strategy includes process electrification, renewable energies, improved energy efficiency, and a waste management model based on reuse and the circular economy.
Socially, PIHER holds the ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety, along with policies for equality, work-life balance, diversity, and professional development. In governance, it has implemented participation mechanisms, communication and reporting channels, and tools for monitoring and continuous improvement.
The Sustainable Project award has gone to Camping Izarpe, located in the Valle de Atez. The jury highlighted that this is a sustainable rural development initiative that combines the protection of the natural environment, the generation of local employment, and the strengthening of the rural economy.
The campsite has recently obtained the European Ecological Label ECOLABEL, an official recognition from the European Union that makes it the first campsite in Navarra to achieve this. Among its measures are a photovoltaic installation for self-consumption, the use of electricity from 100% renewable sources, the valorisation of organic waste through composting, and the planting of native species.
The establishment also works with local suppliers, collaborates with local producers, and organizes activities open to the community, reinforcing its economic impact in the area.
The awards ceremony will take place on October 7 at the Navarra Chamber of Commerce.
