The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has expressed his intention to work for the 2030 World Cup final to be held in Spain. In an interview, he highlighted the favourable conditions of the country to host this sporting event.

Spain shares the organisation of the World Cup with Portugal and Morocco, although it has not yet been officially defined where the final will take place. This announcement has generated considerable public debate, especially after the recent migration crisis in Ceuta.
During an interview on Cadena Ser, Sánchez recalled the successes of the Spanish national team, mentioning the title won at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the more recent one at the 2023 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The president emphasised that “it’s about time Spain won a World Cup at home”.
Furthermore, Sánchez stressed: “we have all the conditions for the final to be held in Spain”. In response to the possibility of the final taking place in Morocco, the head of the Executive assured: “We are going to work for it to be here”.
The organisation of the 2030 World Cup will also include Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, who will host the opening matches in tribute to the centenary of the first World Cup, held in 1930 in Montevideo.
