The medical device company MiniMed has appointed Sandra Iglesias as the new CEO for Iberia, Greece and Israel. Her leadership coincides with the recent split of MiniMed from the Medtronic Group.
Sandra Iglesias, who was born in Barcelona in 1973, has been appointed CEO of MiniMed for Iberia, Greece and Israel since March of this year. The information, reported by Expansion.com, indicates that this appointment comes after the company's split, which was previously part of the Medtronic Group. MiniMed is known for the development of insulin pumps and diabetes management systems.
With a career spanning over twenty years in the multinational, Iglesias now faces the challenge of leading a company that generates 3.1 billion dollars annually. This sector, valued at 19 billion dollars globally, is expected to grow by more than 10% annually until 2030.
The company operates in 80 countries and has more than 8,000 employees, supported by 40,000 healthcare professionals. Currently, MiniMed provides technology to over 660,000 patients worldwide, of which 16,000 are located in Spain.
Iglesias has stated that success in her new role is not measured solely by market share, but by the impact on patients' lives. “Our goal is to improve the lives of people with diabetes,” she said. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of attitude and closeness in managing her team of 150 people.
The new CEO has also implemented initiatives such as the Engagement Team, which gathers employee concerns, and Express yourself, a space for workers to ask her questions directly. Iglesias stresses that trust is earned over time and is essential in such a regulated sector as healthcare.
