The Chamber of Commerce of Málaga brings together diplomatic and commercial representatives from Paraguay to show Málaga businesses the business and investment opportunities in the Latin American country.

The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Málaga has held the event ‘Paraguay, a Destination of Opportunities for Andalusian Companies’, a meeting to connect the business fabric of Málaga and Andalusia with the business, trade, and investment possibilities offered by the Paraguayan market.

The event featured the ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the Kingdom of Spain, Justo Apodaca Paredes; the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Services of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay, Alberto Sborosky; the Commercial Attaché of Paraguay in Spain, Natalia Cáceres; and the Consul General of Paraguay in Málaga, María Soledad Saldívar. The event was presided over by José Carlos Escribano de Garaizabal from the Chamber of Commerce of Málaga.

During the event, the characteristics of the Paraguayan market, its investment and expansion opportunities, and incentives for foreign companies were presented, as well as possibilities for integration into regional value chains through its position in Mercosur.

The president of the Chamber, José Carlos Escribano, highlighted the growth potential for commercial relations between Málaga and Paraguay. Companies in the province exported to the Latin American country in 2025 for a value of 1.2 million euros, compared to imports of 143,000 euros.

“From the Chamber, we are always open to collaborating on all initiatives that allow us to provide our companies with knowledge and useful tools to face their internationalization processes with greater guarantees,” Escribano stated.

The president framed the meeting as a favourable moment to intensify commercial relations with Paraguay following the provisional application since 1 May of the EU-Mercosur Trade Agreement, which improves access conditions for Spanish companies to the Paraguayan market.

Spanish exports to Paraguay reached 178.3 million euros in 2025, a historical maximum, with a growth of 6% compared to the previous year and a Spanish trade surplus of 141.6 million euros. In Andalusia, exports reached 7.8 million euros, while imports from Paraguay exceeded 8.1 million.

The event focused on sectors such as industrial goods, agri-food, services, infrastructure, energy, water and sanitation, telecommunications, and public procurement. Opportunities have been identified for Málaga in agri-food, technology and digital services, engineering, renewable energies, construction and infrastructure, water and sanitation, logistics and transport, tourism, and professional services.

The meeting included a Q&A session and a networking space for attendees to establish contacts with Paraguayan representatives. The initiative was coordinated by the Embassy of Paraguay, the Consulate General of Paraguay in Málaga, REDIEX (Network of Investments and Exports of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay), and the Chamber of Commerce of Málaga.
