The president of the Diputación of Huelva, David Toscano, signed the agreements for PFEA 2026 with mayors and councils this Thursday in Hinojos. The programme mobilises nearly 150 projects and will generate 10,000 contracts and 168,000 workdays.
The president of the Diputación of Huelva, David Toscano, signed the agreements for the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA) 2026 this Thursday at the Casa de la Cultura de Hinojos alongside mayors and representatives from the councils of the province. According to huelva24.com, the programme includes nearly 150 projects and will generate around 10,000 contracts and over 168,000 workdays.
The planned actions encompass improvements to municipal buildings and warehouses, sociocultural and civic centres, sports facilities, and multipurpose rooms. They also include accessibility interventions, enhancements to streets, squares, paths, and urban infrastructure, recreational areas, silvopastoral work, and actions on bus shelters and roads linked to Civil Guard barracks.
The list is completed with economic activity projects such as business incubators, offices for entrepreneurs, commercial premises and areas, as well as improvements in energy efficiency and clean points. The acquisition of materials and supplies will benefit companies and suppliers in the areas where the works are carried out.
Toscano highlighted the programme's impact on job creation and the improvement of local infrastructure. "These are significant figures, but what truly matters is what they represent," the president stated. Regarding the demographic challenge, he said: "When we talk about depopulation and the demographic challenge, we also talk about creating opportunities, improving services, and having good infrastructure so that people can develop their life projects in our towns."
The Diputación supports the councils throughout the entire process with resources and professionals. Through the Area of Local Innovation Plans and Demographic Challenge, approximately 30 projects and 12 evaluated reports have been drafted this year for 17 municipalities that have requested this support. Technical, architectural, construction, labour, and administrative advice is also provided, along with technical inspection of the works and management of resources for materials and machinery.
"We are here to provide technical capacity where it is needed, support our councils, and help turn their needs into projects that improve the lives of their residents," Toscano stated.
In addition to supporting the councils, the Diputación carries out its own actions with a specific allocation. In 2026, interventions are planned in La Rábida, in Palos de la Frontera; at the Vista Alegre complex in Huelva; at the Almonte Fire Station; and at Mina Concepción, along provincial roads in the Sierra, the Andévalo, and the Mining Basin. For this, the institution will hire workers from approximately 60 municipalities in Huelva, which will entail around 400 contracts and over 5,000 workdays.
The mayor of Hinojos, Joaquina del Valle, welcomed the municipal representatives and expressed her satisfaction that the municipality is hosting such an event for the first time. The president thanked the work of mayors, representatives of councils, and municipal teams, as well as the efforts of the Diputación professionals. "From the Diputación, we will continue to stand by our councils, putting our resources, our professionals, and our management capacity at the service of this province," he concluded.
