The Ibex 35 index struggles to stay near 20,000 points amid rising tensions in the markets. Inflationary pressures from oil and the imminent rate hike from the European Central Bank complicate the outlook.
The Ibex 35 is in a delicate situation, fluctuating on the brink of 20,000 points due to pressures from international markets. According to expansion.com, recent activity on Wall Street has returned to normal, but a clear recovery in the rises remains complicated.
The countdown to the anticipated rate hike from the European Central Bank, scheduled for next Thursday, September 10, adds uncertainty to the market. Additionally, the price of oil is approaching 100 dollars per barrel, while geopolitical tensions, especially in the Middle East, continue to rise.
Inflation expectations are increasing as the price of Brent hits new highs, exceeding 98 dollars. Over the next week, investors will need to keep an eye on three potential rate hikes in key economies: the eurozone, the United States, and Japan, scheduled between September 10 and 18.
Interest rates on debt are also at high levels, with the ten-year US bond near 4.80% and the German bund hovering around 3.40%. In Spain, the ten-year bond has secured itself above 3.80%.
