This decision, as reported by expansion.com, comes after the Provincial Court corrected its previous decision to archive two charges.
Peinado, who will retire this week, has ordered an investigation into Gómez's economic capacity, requesting the last five tax returns in relation to potential financial responsibilities. This is the second time the judge has sent the two defendants to trial, after they were previously attributed other crimes in June, including business corruption and misappropriation.
The Madrid Court has confirmed that there are indications of Gómez's involvement in influence peddling activities, as well as in the improper use of public assets. The popular prosecution, led by Hazte Oír, is requesting sentences of 13 years in prison for Gómez and 6 years for Álvarez, while the defenses are seeking their acquittal.
