Santander Generales, in collaboration with Aegon, has increased its volume of health insurance premiums by **17.46%** in the first half, reaching **€62.5 million**. This increase significantly exceeds the industry average, which is **6.91%**.
The bank's subsidiary, together with the Dutch insurance group Aegon, has seen significant growth in the health insurance sector in Spain. According to expansion.com, in the first half of 2026, Santander Generales reported a **17.46%** increase in its premiums, reaching a total of **€62.5 million**.
This growth is notably higher than the **6.91%** recorded by the market as a whole, placing Santander Seguros in **15th** position in the premium ranking and first in terms of growth, according to data from the sector association Icea.
To enhance this area, Santander and Aegon have implemented a new plan, called Plan Salud, which aims to improve customer service and optimise administrative processes. This includes a focus on digitalisation and increasing the qualifications of healthcare professionals.
Among the initiatives, the review of management models and the development of procedures to simplify interactions with policyholders stand out, aiming to reduce waiting times and rejections in processes.
The health insurance offering from Santander and Aegon is aimed at individuals, seniors, and self-employed people, and includes a network of over **50,000** doctors and more than **1,000** centres available for policyholders. In the first half of 2026, Santander Generales, which is 51% controlled by Aegon, reported total revenue of **€258 million**, an **8.6%** increase compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, the multi-risk insurance segment, including home insurance, significantly contributed to this figure, with **€128 million** in premiums. Last year, the company achieved a net profit of **€67.7 million**, a growth of **33%** compared to the previous year.
