The General Director of HP for Spain and Portugal, Inés Bermejo, maintains that talent is not retained with fear, but with purpose. She states this in an interview published by elmundo.es, where she reviews her career in the company, where she began as an intern three decades ago.
Bermejo joined the finance department and then moved through sales and international development for a long period. This journey led her to the general management of Spain and Portugal, a position she took on, as she explains, after understanding the entire business: "it is good to see Spain from the outside, both the good and what needs improvement".
"Talent is not retained with fear, but with purpose"
The executive defines her way of working with "enthusiasm, curiosity, courage, and a bit of audacity to innovate". The company, with nearly a century of history, has its largest global 3D printing centre in Barcelona, with over 150 patents, employees from 60 nationalities, and more than 25,000 visitors each year.
The Catalan complex features ten buildings and a 14th-century farmhouse, which Bermejo describes as a gem and an example of "tradition and modernity". The facilities include tennis, football, and squash courts for employees, because, according to the executive, "personal well-being is not at odds with productivity, nor vision with execution, nor results with purpose".
When asked about the future and the impact of artificial intelligence, Bermejo advocates for adaptation. She advises young women to take "the driver's seat" in their lives and to make themselves visible.
