The Dorchester hotel has obtained a court order to sell a luxury car belonging to Sheikh Nasser bin Abdullah al-Thani for a debt of £458,000. This amount includes the cost of several stays at the exclusive London hotel, where room prices range from £1,000 to £8,000 per night.
The Dorchester, one of the most luxurious hotels in London, has been authorised by the Central London County Court to sell a 2011 Fiat 500 Abarth Tributo Ferrari due to a debt of £458,000 accumulated by Sheikh Nasser bin Abdullah al-Thani. This amount is due to extended stays and other related charges, including interest.
The lawsuit filed by the hotel took place in March, and the court ruled in July, ordering the recovery of £198,180 plus £3,266 for the cost of the room, as well as £256,627 in additional charges. The sale of the vehicle occurs in a context where the car has an average resale price of £23,500, which will not significantly reduce the sheikh's total debt.
Rooms at The Dorchester are priced between £1,000 and £8,000 per night, making the debt accumulated by the sheikh equivalent to a stay of several months. Al-Thani did not attend the court hearing nor send legal representation, and his address is registered at the Al Wajiba Palace in Doha.
The sheikh's lawyers have stated they are willing to contest the ruling, arguing that the amount claimed is questionable and that Al-Thani did not receive formal notification of the proceedings. The sheikh's involvement with Málaga FC was marked by controversies, including his dismissal for financial irregularities in 2020.
The Dorchester is owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, and its luxurious facilities are frequented by high society members and celebrities.
