The public company Giahsa will renew the supply and sanitation networks of Higuera de la Sierra, with an investment of €332,433. The works will begin on January 15, 2027, to avoid interfering with the Cabalgata de Reyes.
The public company Giahsa has announced a new project for the renewal, replacement, and improvement of the municipal supply and sanitation networks of Higuera de la Sierra, as published by canalcostatv.es. The project has a base bidding budget of €332,433.78 and will focus on the area around Plaza de la Constitución and adjacent streets.
The project is part of Giahsa's Network Renewal Plan, which aims to improve hydraulic infrastructures, optimise services, and reduce incidents. The executive director of Giahsa, Santiago Ponce, explained that these actions will allow for the updating of networks that need improvements and provide greater guarantees to the residents.
The works include the replacement of old conduits in Plaza de la Constitución, Avenida de la Cabalgata, and the streets Domingo Fal Conde and Concejo. New high-density polyethylene and ductile iron pipes will be installed, which are more durable and safer materials.
Several rings of the network will also be closed to improve supply continuity, and the supply connections of the affected plots will be renewed. In sanitation, a concrete collector in Plaza de la Constitución will be replaced with a larger diameter PVC one, which will increase the capacity and reliability of the wastewater evacuation network.
The start of the works is scheduled for January 15, 2027, a date agreed upon with the Higuera de la Sierra Town Hall to avoid interfering with the Cabalgata de Reyes Magos, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Andalusia and considered the second oldest in Spain.
Santiago Ponce has pointed out that this renewal will improve service quality, reduce breakdowns and water losses, and optimise the operation of the networks.
