The Business Council of Tourism of the FOE rejects the temporary modification of schedules on the Sevilla-Huelva and Jabugo-Huelva routes, in effect since September 21, and demands explanations from Renfe, Adif, and the Government.
The Business Council of Tourism of the Federation of Huelva Entrepreneurs (FOE) has expressed its rejection of the temporary modification of train schedules on the Sevilla-Huelva and Jabugo-Huelva routes, in effect since September 21. The employers' association considers that these changes represent a "new punishment" and a "violation of the rights of the people of Huelva," according to Andalucía Información.
The business organization argues that the adjustments affect the tourism competitiveness of the province and have generated concern in the sector. The president of the Business Council of Tourism of the FOE, Luis Arroyo, has described the situation as "unacceptable" and warned that these temporary changes could extend over time.
"No destination can compete on equal terms when its main rail connection takes nearly twice as long as by road," Arroyo pointed out.
The new travel times between Sevilla and Huelva exceed two hours on several services. The train leaving Sevilla at 8:24 arrives at 10:32, with a duration of 2 hours and 8 minutes. Other journeys range from 1 hour and 43 minutes to 1 hour and 56 minutes, while the road journey takes about an hour.
In the Huelva-Sevilla direction, four trains have changed their schedules: one departs at 06:00 arriving at 07:48; another leaves at 10:22 and arrives at 12:13; a third departs at 14:50 and reaches its destination at 16:46; and the last one departs at 18:28 to arrive at 20:11. On the Sevilla-Huelva route, trains leave at 12:56, 17:19, and 20:46, arriving at 14:48, 19:14, and 22:38, respectively.
The Media Distance service connecting Jabugo and Huelva on Sundays has also been adjusted: the train now departs later at 08:35 and arrives at 10:16.
The tourism employers' association reminds that the province's rail communications have suffered from frequency issues, delays, and breakdowns for years, which harms the destination's image. In this context, the sector emphasizes that these deficiencies hinder the fight against seasonality, the organization of conferences, and the attraction of investments.
In light of this situation, the FOE demands that Renfe, Adif, and the Government of Spain explain the reasons and duration of the modifications, as well as a fixed investment schedule to correct the historical deficit and guarantees of punctuality and reliability.
