In Reading, Spanish students have achieved only 451 points, representing a loss of 45 points since 2015 and 23 points less than in the last edition of 2022. This result is 8 points lower than the EU average and 10 points below the OECD average.
In Mathematics, the situation is equally concerning, with a score of 457 points, which means a drop of 16 points compared to the previous assessment in 2022. This result is also 6 points below the OECD and EU averages.
The 2025 assessment does not include the results from Catalonia, which could influence the interpretation of the data. The downward trend in the academic performance of Spanish students raises questions about the effectiveness of the educational reforms implemented in recent years.
