Aguas del Huesna has put out to tender the works to improve the sanitation network on Avenida de Andalucía, with a budget of €902,035.65 and an execution period of six months. The action aims to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall episodes.
Companies interested in carrying out the improvement works on the sanitation network of Avenida de Andalucía in Lebrija can submit their bids until October 5, 2026, at 23:59 hours, exclusively through the Public Sector Contracting Platform. This has been communicated by Aguas del Huesna, which has tendered this project with a base budget of €902,035.65, VAT included, and an execution period of six months.
The action responds to a specific request from the City Council of Lebrija, which has been calling for a solution to the problems recorded at this point in the city during heavy rainfall episodes. The technical documentation indicates that significant flooding has occurred in recent years on Avenida de Andalucía, a route through which the urban and rural basins of the northwestern part of the urban area drain.
The project includes the installation of a new, larger diameter sanitation pipe to evacuate the flows from the different basins. According to the report, the existing collectors do not have sufficient section or slope to drain these flows, which concentrate quickly due to the steep slopes of the basins. Previously, smaller-scale actions had been carried out, such as the installation of PVC collectors and the renewal of drains, which did not resolve the issue.
In this phase, called Phase II, the section between the kilometre points 0+378 and 0+680 will be executed. The report itself states that there will be an additional section pending a future Phase III to comprehensively address the problem. The contract is processed through an open procedure and the award will be made based on economic criteria.
Furthermore, this action is part of the investments financed by the grant of €12,244,752.74 granted by the Government of Spain to the City Council of Lebrija to repair the damage caused by the flooding recorded on January 27, 2026 and to execute new prevention infrastructures. Specifically, this grant includes a total investment of €1,499,682.93 for the improvement of the sanitation network on Avenida de Andalucía, alongside another comprehensive action on calle Corredera, funded with €1,747,792.80. Both interventions total €3,247,475.73 aimed at improving the drainage and evacuation capacity of rainwater in vulnerable areas.
The currently tendered project has an estimated value of €894,580.81. The works aim to increase the capacity for collecting, conducting, and evacuating rainwater to reduce the risk of accumulations and flooding on Avenida de Andalucía, a fundamental infrastructure for the evacuation of flows from the basins that drain into this area of the city.
