Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) will be responsible for the maintenance of the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE), which includes a technological network used by the Civil Guard for the surveillance of Spanish coasts. The information, reported by expansion.com, details that EM&E has been awarded four of the five lots of the contract, for a total of **€62 million**.
The maintenance of the SIVE covers sensor stations with various subsystems, including optronic sensors, radar, and power stations. This maintenance is crucial due to the demanding environmental conditions of the marine environment, which can affect the proper functioning of the equipment.
The SIVE plays an essential role in national security, participating in rescue operations, combating drug trafficking, regulating migratory flows, and protecting underwater cultural heritage. According to the contract specifications, “the criminal phenomena that typically exploit the maritime space have a very serious impact on public health and citizen security.”
The contract has been divided into five lots; the first, intended for maintenance in the Canary Islands, is valued at **€15.3 million**, while the second, which includes Cádiz, Algeciras, Huelva, Ceuta, and Pontevedra, amounts to **€18.75 million**. The third lot, for Málaga, Granada, Almería, and Murcia, is worth **€12.64 million**, and the fourth, which covers Alicante, Valencia, Castellón, Tarragona, and the Balearic Islands, is also included.
Additionally, a fifth lot has been awarded to TRC for **€1.67 million**, which will be dedicated to transversal work that complements the management capabilities of the SIVE. The current maintenance contracts will end on **31 October** of this year, following the second extension contemplated in the previous file.
