Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Juan Jesús Vivas have strongly criticised Pedro Sánchez's government for its management following the massive influx of migrants in Ceuta. Both political leaders accuse Morocco of being the instigator of the crisis.
The situation in Ceuta has led Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the PP, and the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas, to escalate their criticisms towards Pedro Sánchez's government. According to expansion.com, both assert that the recent entry of over 70,000 migrants from Morocco represents a "tolerated and sponsored invasion" by the neighbouring country.
Feijóo stated that "a crisis of this magnitude cannot occur without, at the very least, consent from the other side of the border." He also hinted that this episode is part of a plan that could culminate in a territorial concession to Morocco. During an informative breakfast in Madrid, he demanded clear explanations regarding diplomatic contacts with the Alaouite kingdom.
The PP leader did not hold back in his criticism of the Executive, denouncing the "abandonment" of Ceuta. He highlighted that the government has lost its dignity and accused Sánchez of being absent during the crisis. "The one who should have led this state crisis first went on holiday and, secondly, returned lying," he indicated.
For his part, Vivas also pointed directly to Morocco as the instigator of the border assault, stating that the country uses migration pressure as a political tool. He claimed that the current situation represents a "pressure cooker that could explode at any moment." He also questioned the lack of action from the Spanish government, suggesting indolence or irresponsibility in its response.
Both leaders agreed that the socialist government's migration management is disorganised and ineffective, and demanded that the heads of the CNI be summoned to clarify the situation. Feijóo concluded that "unfortunately, we must conclude that the current government does not guarantee the security of the state."
