The new season of Matadero Madrid kicks off with notable proposals in dance, contemporary art, and literature. The artistic director, José Luis Romo, highlights the variety of disciplines as its hallmark.

Matadero Madrid has started its new season with a focus on dance, contemporary art, and literature, according to expansion.com. José Luis Romo, the artistic director of the space, has stated that "this year we are starting big with three very powerful proposals."

The season begins with a cycle by choreographer Damien Jalet, known for his work with Madonna. This cycle, organised by Cineteca Madrid and Centro Danza Matadero, will include screenings from September 5 to 12, culminating in a practical dance workshop taught by Jalet on the final day.

From September 11 to 13, the Back to the Book festival will feature renowned authors such as Julieta Venegas, who will present her first novel Norteña, and comic book author Paco Roca.

Additionally, from September 11 to January 24, Nave 0 will host the exhibition Bailad, bailad, malditos, by artist Carlos Aires, which will transform the space into an interactive installation.

The Medialab programme will launch a research laboratory titled LAB 5 The Mechanics of Truth, while the Intermediae programme will initiate three new projects selected in its latest call. The Artistic Residency Centre will open on November 21 to showcase the work of the new resident artists.

The programme also includes established festivals, such as L.E.V. Matadero, which celebrates its eighth edition from September 17 to 20, and the International Festival of Contemporary Animation of Madrid, which will return from December 10 to 13.
