The Town Hall of Mora and the Toledo Chamber of Commerce agreed on Wednesday to jointly design a training and employment plan for 2027 tailored to the needs of local businesses. The initiative aims to anticipate the profiles that projects such as the DC Malpica data centre and renewable energies will demand.
The Town Hall of Mora and the Toledo Chamber of Commerce have reached an agreement to jointly develop a training and employment programme for 2027, as confirmed by the chamber institution. The objective is to improve the employability of residents and meet the current and future needs of local businesses.
The working meeting, held on Wednesday, was attended by the mayor of Mora, Emilio Bravo; the deputy mayor and head of Local Development, Álvaro Valero; and the managing director of the Toledo Chamber of Commerce, Joaquín Echevarría.
The plan, called Mora 2027 Training and Employment Plan, will be structured around four pillars: digital infrastructure and telecommunications, artificial intelligence and digital skills, and two other areas that will be specified after a prior analysis. The programme will not start from a closed catalogue of courses but will be built based on a study of the real needs of the municipality and its businesses.
As a preliminary step, a business survey will be conducted through interviews with relevant companies in Mora to understand what profiles they hire, which ones are hardest to fill, and what skills will be required in 2027 and 2028. Contact will also be made with the promoters of renewable energy projects and the DC Malpica data centre to identify professional families and qualifications related to their development.
“We want the investment and growth opportunities being generated in Mora to also translate into employment opportunities for our residents,” stated Mayor Emilio Bravo.
The managing director of the Toledo Chamber of Commerce emphasized that “training is truly useful when it responds to a specific need” and explained that the intention is “to tailor it to Mora, listening to the businesses.”
The first training pillar includes actions in fibre optics, networks and structured cabling, operation and maintenance of data centres, and basic cybersecurity, aiming to prepare for auxiliary and support positions. The second will focus on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, its application in the workplace, Google and Microsoft tools, and automation applied to administration, customer service, marketing, and business management.
The final programme will be finalized after the business survey and contact with the promoters of the planned projects in Mora, with the aim of having the training ready for 2027.
