The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, will meet on Friday at 12:30 PM with representatives from Airbus and unions in an attempt to resolve the labour conflict affecting the company. The meeting comes after the closure of the mediation process at the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA), according to expansion.com.
Yesterday, Airbus held a meeting with representatives not linked to the mobilisations, such as CCOO, although SIPA did not participate, and no agreement was reached. In a statement, the company indicated that “unfortunately” the mediation did not achieve the participation of all interested parties.
The Secretary of State for Industry, Jordi García Brustenga, had anticipated the possibility of Government intervention if negotiations did not progress. The current situation, marked by the calling of two strikes since July, has led Airbus to a “critical situation” affecting its business and generating concern among its clients.
Auxiliary companies in Andalusia are also being impacted, with 150 companies and 16,400 direct jobs at risk, according to the Councillor for University, Industry, Energy and Innovation of the Junta de Andalucía, Jorge Paradela.
Airbus's economic proposals include linking salaries to the real CPI and a 7.6% recovery of purchasing power, in addition to maintaining the current teleworking agreement.
