A total of 13 firms from the Region of Murcia are participating this week in two commercial actions in Egypt organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia and the INFO. Three of them will extend the mission to Jordan next week.
A total of 13 companies from the Region of Murcia are participating this week in two commercial activities in Egypt driven by the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia as part of the External Promotion Plan of the Region of Murcia, which the entity develops together with the Institute of Fostering (INFO), according to camaramurcia.es.
The first of the initiatives is a multisectoral trade mission in which seven companies are taking part: Arana Water Management, Industrias Aviles, Suministros Lomar, Laboratorios Almond, Mesfood Trading, Lord Spices, and 3A Biotech. They belong to the agricultural technology, food, furniture components, and ingredients sectors, and for three days they are holding business meetings in Cairo with local clients, distributors, and partners.
The agenda at the destination has been organised by the team from the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Egypt. Three of these companies will continue their commercial journey next week in Jordan, with a work agenda prepared by the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Amman.
In parallel, six Murcian firms from the agricultural technology sector are participating in the Sahara Expo, the main fair in the country, which this year celebrates its 38th edition. They are Ecología Agrícola del Mediterráneo, Caliplant, Lucasbiotech, Riegos y Tecnología – RITEC, JH Hydroponic systems, and Meridiem Seeds. Their offerings include fertigation equipment, seeds, biostimulants, organic pesticides and fungicides, substrates, and plant varieties, as well as turnkey projects and hydroponic cultivation.
The degree of specialisation of the agricultural technology sector in the Region fits with the needs of Egypt, a net importer of agricultural machinery whose primary sector represents 11% of GDP and employs around 27% of the active population, with a limited level of modernisation.
Egypt and Jordan are two markets where the Region already has a presence, and these actions aim to reinforce and expand it. Regional exports to Egypt reached 126.96 million euros in 2025, a 30.76% increase compared to the previous year. The most demanded products are fuels and lubricants, food preparations, fluid handling equipment, food ingredients and additives, and chemicals.
With over 110 million inhabitants, Egypt is the third-largest economy in the region, and forecasts point to a GDP growth of 4.3% this year. The Chamber of Commerce of Murcia highlights its strategic position, the preferential origin agreements between the European Union and Egypt, and the Vision 2030 Plan, aimed at boosting GDP, employment, and private participation in the economy.
For its part, Jordan received regional exports worth 22.1 million euros, featuring chemical products, animal feed, sugar and confectionery, canned fruits and vegetables, and perfumery and cosmetics.
The three companies that will extend the mission will travel to Jordan next week with a meeting agenda managed by the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Amman.
