Founded in April 2023 in Paris, Mistral aims to become a European competitor to the major global AI labs. Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO of Mistral, stated that this capital injection will allow the company to achieve processing power comparable to that of leading Chinese AI labs.
The funding will enable Mistral not only to scale its AI models but also to strengthen its cloud computing services business. Mensch highlighted that the demand for cybersecurity services has notably increased among its clients, especially in the European banking sector, following recent incidents related to AI.
Mistral's new valuation represents a significant increase from its previous funding round, in which it was valued at €12 billion. As Europe seeks to compete with the tech giants of the United States and China, Mistral's future will depend on its ability to attract investments and develop innovative technology.
