The Swedish multinational Alfa Laval will supply 60 heat exchangers for the Onuba plant of Moeve in Palos de la Frontera. The contract is announced ten days before the groundbreaking, scheduled for September 17.

The construction of the green hydrogen plant Onuba, the first phase of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley of Moeve, is progressing with the hiring of industrial equipment. The Swedish multinational Alfa Laval will supply 60 heat exchangers for the facility that will be built in the La Rábida energy park, in Palos de la Frontera, as reported by El Concís.

The contract is known ten days before the material start of the project: Moeve will lay the first stone on September 17. The plant, which will mobilise over 1 billion euros, will produce around 45,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually and will prevent the emission of 250,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The Alfa Laval exchangers will be used to cool the electrolyzers, the generated gases, and the auxiliary systems. The Swedish company, specialised in heat transfer and fluid treatment, thus joins the supply chain of a project that is entering its execution phase.

Onuba will have 300 MW of power, expandable to 405 MW if electrical capacity and business approval are confirmed. The project, led by Moeve with 51%, includes Masdar and Enalter, although negotiations are underway for the entry of H24 and Cofides. The plant has received 263 million euros in European funds from the Recovery Plan.

The Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley aims to reach 2 GW of electrolysis distributed between Palos de la Frontera and San Roque (Cádiz). With the approved investment and the works scheduled, Onuba begins the construction phase on the ground.
