The mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, assures that there are several industrial projects ready to be developed in the city that are just waiting to know the available electricity. The City Council is also working on 7,000 homes and new hotels to accommodate incoming workers.
The mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, has stated that there are "several projects in the drawer" ready to be developed in the city that depend solely on knowing "the electricity they will have to be able to develop," as she expressed in the press conference following the meeting of the Port-City Commission, as reported by Europa Press.
Miranda detailed that the projects of CirCular de Atlantic Copper, the one from Maersk, and a third one she did not want to reveal, defined as "the union of two powerful companies, which have everything prepared, but have not made it public," have the electricity "guaranteed." However, she warned that there are other initiatives pending the Government's clarification of the planned electricity supply for the province and the capital.
"Some are in port areas and others even in the city's industrial park, but we depend on electricity, because it is the only brake we have"
The mayor emphasized that Huelva has a "top-level port," available space, one of the "most important industrial parks in Spain," and experience, conditions that, in her opinion, position it to attract new investments if the supply is guaranteed.
These statements come after the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, demanded this Thursday, at the launch event of the Onuba project in Palos de la Frontera, the first phase of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley of Moeve, "sufficient" electrical infrastructures to meet the demand of the business and industrial fabric.
In parallel, Miranda explained that the City Council is working on a project for 7,000 homes to accommodate people who want to settle in the city, as well as a new space for conferences and the arrival of new hotels. The goal, she said, is to approach 150,000 inhabitants, a figure that the capital is close to.
