The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, participated this Tuesday in New York in a dialogue on measures to address the financing deficit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advance the 2030 Agenda, according to La Moncloa. The meeting, held within the framework of the group of SDG Advocates, also featured contributions from UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed and the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley.
During his speech, Sánchez pointed out that the next four years provide ample room to accelerate the implementation of the goals agreed upon in 2015 and renew ambition. "Four years are a universe," he stated in reference to the available timeframe, while asserting that the 2030 Agenda is not the "agenda of the elite" but rather the "agenda of the people."
The head of the Executive highlighted the results of the Financing for Development Conference held in Seville, which resulted in over 100 initiatives to improve financing mechanisms for the SDGs. The meeting also included the presence of the third vice president and minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen.
