Artificial intelligence is transforming the job market in Spain, with salary bonuses reaching up to 56%. This phenomenon forces companies to reassess how they value talent and the skills of their employees.
Companies in Spain are experiencing a significant change in how they compensate their workers, driven by artificial intelligence (AI). According to expansion.com, a 'salary premium' has been observed that can reach up to 56% among professional profiles with varying levels of knowledge in AI.
A recent study by Catenon and TalentHackers reveals that mastery of AI not only improves salary prospects but is also transforming the structure of the job market. While Spain has over 812,000 professionals in the tech sector, it faces a 21% deficit in specialized talent in critical areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and data analysis.
The figures are clear: an AI Engineer with two to five years of experience can earn up to 65,000 euros annually, surpassing other equally in-demand roles such as Data Engineer or Cybersecurity Engineer. Furthermore, it has been shown that professionals with specific AI skills can receive salary differences of up to 20,000 euros compared to their peers who do not possess these competencies.
The report also highlights that AI is generating changes across various industries, not just in the tech field. According to the Tech Salary Guide 2026, job offers requiring knowledge in AI offer salaries 28% higher than those that do not. This suggests a trend towards compensation based on practical and applicable skills, rather than simply years of experience.
The OECD warns that the impact of AI goes beyond technical roles. Most workers will be forced to adapt their tasks and acquire new skills to remain productive in an evolving work environment. This could lead to an increase in AI literacy in non-technical sectors, broadening access to job opportunities.
