Gross foreign investment in Spain reached €12.446 billion between January and June 2026, an increase of 31% compared to the previous year. However, disinvestments also grew, exceeding €9.038 billion, which reduces the net capital inflow to €3.407 billion.
Between January and June 2026, Spain received €12.446 billion in gross foreign investment, representing an increase of 31.2% compared to the same period in 2025, according to expansion.com. This increase is largely due to investment from the United States, which reached €2.857 billion, 84% more than the previous year.
However, disinvestments by foreign companies also surged, reaching €9.038 billion, which is an increase of 142.7% compared to the first half of 2025. This resulted in a net capital inflow of just €3.407 billion, a decrease of 40.8%.
In the context of foreign investment, Madrid remained the main destination, attracting €5.635 billion, which represents 45.2% of the total investment. The Valencian Community experienced a remarkable increase, reaching €1.845 billion, more than five times what was recorded in the same period of 2025.
Despite the growth in investment, the outlook is complicated due to increasing geopolitical uncertainty and internal political instability in Spain, factors that may affect foreign investors' perception of the Spanish economy.
