Sacyr and CAF have decided to compete to build the second line of the Bogotá Metro, a project valued at €4 billion. Acciona, their former partner, has withdrawn from the tender, allowing the Spaniards to present themselves solo.
Sacyr and CAF have formalised their participation in a new tender for the construction and operation of the second line of the Bogotá Metro, a project with a planned investment of €4 billion. The information, reported by expansion.com, indicates that this bid is presented without the support of Acciona, which abandoned the project at the beginning of the year.
The withdrawal of Acciona was one of the reasons that led Colombia to declare the previous tender void. The new consortium faces competitors such as the Portuguese Mota Engil, which has partnered with the French Spie Batignolles Génie Civil, and the Chinese state group Xi'an Rail Transportation Group, which is also present in the country.
Colombia is considered one of the three most important growth platforms for Sacyr, alongside Chile and Italy. The construction company, chaired by Manuel Manrique, has stood out as the largest promoter of road concessions in the country. Meanwhile, CAF has established itself as a key supplier of trains, especially for the Medellín Metro.
